What is this?
This ride will meet at Donovan Park, located at the intersection of Friday Creek Rd. and Parson Creek Rd. The ride will be about 2/3's paved, and 1/3 gravel road. We'll park at the county park, ride North and loop the lake, then make our way to Barrel Springs Rd. We'll hit the gravel climb up to Samish Overlook, where we'll take a snack and photo break. We'll enjoy the gravel descent back to Barrel Springs, and return to the park via Woods/Colony Rd. Bring a bike capable of riding on hard packed gravel and be prepared for several short steep climbs. The view is worth the climb. The route is about 30 miles. I expect to take about 3 hours to do the whole thing. This will be a stick-together ride. We'll average 12 mph on the pavement, and each do the climb to the overlook at our own pace, with a sweeper riding with the last person so no one is dropped. Please be capable of making the climb, and please be prepared to ride on a gravel road with some bumps. Dress warm.
