By now I'm sure that everyone knows about the major damage to the Tommy Thompson Trail trestle and the fund raising that's underway to pay for the repairs. Several of you have donated already and that is much appreciated. The fund raising has been going well, but we need to get it done and start on construction.

One of our members is offering a challenge. She has pledged $5,000 to match the next $5,000 that is donated by SBC members. As the NPR folks refrain goes...you can double the value of your contribution when it is matched. In order to track donations to be matched, please help out by doing the following:

1. If you pay by check, please include a note saying that it is an SBC matching fund donation. Checks can be mailed to: Anacortes Parks Foundation, PO Box 1902, Anacortes 98221

2. If you pay via credit card, please go to AnacortesParksFoundation.org You can use either the "donate" button or the "donate to the trestle button". When you are done, please email a copy of your receipt to me: WTessler48@gmail.com

The estimated cost of repairs is $250,000 (and yes! there will be cameras with night vision and recording capability installed). Much has been raised already and more is on the way. In fact, with a major recent pledge, if we meet the match challenge from our member, we can get this done now!

We can call it the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge or the SBC member challenge. The main thing, we have a chance to complete the fundraising, repair the trestle and (we hope) be out on that trestle again this Spring.

Thank you very much.

Warren Tessler, almost President
