SBC Member RIDER ALERT Quick Notice

BERENTSON BRIDGE BIKE LANE SWEEP SATURDAY, AP...
Author Last Post

Calling for volunteers for this fun Spring workout to help sweep the bridge! It is time again to clean the Berentson Bridge Bike Lane after a long and wet winter. The goal is to clean the bike lane for May rides and be ready for the many cyclists who use the route throughout the year. We will likely do one additional sweep in late August/early September.

We are planning for Saturday April 20th and will send all members a confirming announcement via the RIDER QUICK ALERT. This will confirm the date and time, and what support (wheelbarrows/blowers) we will need. See the SBC Calendar for details and to register as a volunteer. Raymond (Ray) Desy is currently working with the WSDOT towards a potential participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program at the Berentson Bridge. Which would be a great advertising opportunity for Skagit Bicycle Club! When you sign up for the Bridge Sweep Event you will be asked to view a short safety video. Once you arrive, we will have you sign the WSDOT Adopt-a-Highway Participant Registration.

This is usually the hardest of the “sweeps” as heavy winter debris has accumulated. We have asked WSDOT to pre-sweep the adjacent roadside and scuppers again. This has been hugely helpful. As an incentive for good attendance, there will be post-sweep snacks, drinks, and possible meet up afterwards for libations.

Everyone is welcome. Many hands make this event a fun social activity that is completed in about 1 1/2 hours.

Thank you and hope to see you there! Craig and Jacqui Illman
