The weather looks good, so let's go ride and do lunch on San Juan Island! We are taking the ferry that leaves at 9:00 am from Anacortes to Friday Harbor on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026. Be in line with your ticket by 8:40 am. (Parking tip - I like to use the private lot on the left just as you enter the road to the ferry. Look for the pay/envelope box on the bldg and have $8 cash ready. Online pay options available, but cash might be quicker)
Attached, I have 4 routes that the group can choose from. I am leaning towards just riding (20 miles round trip) to Roche Harbor for lunch at the Lime Kiln Cafe and then exploring the Sculpture Park and/or the Mausoleum in the woods there before riding back to Friday Harbor for an ice cream cone and a walk around town.
Other options include riding back to Friday Harbor and either explore (26 miles total) Pear Point or the (31 miles total) False Bay Loops if it looks like we have enough time. Riding around the (30 miles total) west side to Lime Kiln Park is very scenic, but quite hilly and takes time. Feel free to take a buddy and do that on your own.
The return ferry leaves at 3:50 pm.
Social ride pace of 12 to 15 mph with stops to take look at interesting things, take pictures, and regroup.
