SBC Member RIDER ALERT Quick Notice

Ferndale/Lynden Loop (36 Miles/830 Feet) - Saturda...

Who wants to ride on Saturday, August 1st? YOU DO! Join me for a 36-mile scenic loop around northwest Whatcom County.

Meeting place: the parking lot of the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale, WA 98248.

Meeting time: Arrive in time to allow a 10 am departure.

Briefing: Before we depart, we will conduct a briefing where we make introductions, describe the route, and emphasize the need to Ride S.M.A.R.T.

Route description: From the Community Center, we'll head north to the border, east a bit, then south into Lynden. From there, we'll ride to Wiser Lake before winding our way back to Ferndale. There are no significant gradients on this ride, but there are a few rollers that always prove entertaining.

Pace/regroup: We will split into at least two groups - a social pace (12-14 mph) and a moderate pace (14-16 mph). This route has numerous appropriate regrouping spots.

Pre Ride Considerations

  • Make sure you cancel your registration should you not make the ride.  Your courtesy will make record keeping for the $150 gift card promotion much easier.  Additional information can be found in the Summer Ride Series article https://www.skagitbicycleclub.org/content.aspx?page_id=722&club_id=587323&item_id=3096015&ht=1
  • You must wear a helmet to participate.
  • It'd be really keen if your bike is fitted with front and rear lights.
  • Bring a flat repair kit or spare inner tube. You get extra credit if you know how to repair a flat.
  • Bring a multi-tool or a set of tools to permit minor repairs and adjustments.
  • Bring water and snacks, a fully-charged phone, an ID, and emergency contact information

Post-Ride Lunch

I haven't yet identified a place in Ferndale for lunch for those who wish to hang around; I'll work on it.
